Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel: Luke 5: 12 – 16
It happened that there was a man full of leprosy in one of the towns where Jesus was; and when he saw Jesus, he fell prostrate, pleaded with him, and said, “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.” Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I do will it. Be made clean.” And the leprosy left him immediately. Then he ordered him not to tell anyone, but “Go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.” The report about him spread all the more, and great crowds assembled to listen to him and to be cured of their ailments, but he would withdraw to deserted places to pray.

Reflection
In this verse we can see the glory of God in his willingness to serve even the lowest in society. When the man with leprosy asked to be healed, Jesus did not hesitate or look down on the man for asking for help. He simply saw the man’s needs and helped him without charge or prejudice. As disciples of His life, we can follow His example and seek to help everyone around us, whether they be our close friends or strangers on the street, with the love and charity he showed in His life.

Lasallian Guiding Principle
The LGP states that the spirit of faith enables us to “unite one’s actions to the ongoing saving action of God in the world.” This means that our faith leads us to live as Jesus did, uniting our will with the Lord’s in the world. One way that we can do this today is by freely serving anyone who asks for help, whoever they may be. By doing so with love and charity as Christ does, we come closer to aligning ourselves with the Lord and creating a world in which faith can endure..

Prayer
Father in Heaven, I thank thee for the stability thou hast blessed me with in thy grace. I thank thee for the love, opportunities, and talents thou has bestowed upon in thy mercy for a such a rebellious soul as I. I entrust my life to thee and ask this day that thy Spirit may give me strength and perspective to help those around me and see their needs so I may reach them through thy strength and power. Nevertheless, in doing all this, may all glory and appreciation go back to you O Lord. Amen.
