Let us all remember that we are in the Holy Presence of God.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Luke 4: 38-44
“After Jesus left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon. Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever, and they interceded with him about her.
He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately and waited on them.
At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him. He laid his hands on each of them and cured them.
And demons also came out from many, shouting, “You are the Son of God.” But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak because they knew that he was the Messiah.
At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them.
But he said to them, “To the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God, because for this purpose I have been sent.”
And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.”
Reflection
What should happen to diseases, or problems in general, when presented before the presence of God? Through the believer’s faith and humble surrender, one’s own burden must leave as God’s shadow touches the human body and spirit. And so, peace and comfort must take their place at the Savior’s command. For this very purpose, the Son
of God came and will come again, to bring forth God’s Kingdom, which is rich in healing. And Jesus being our perfect model, we are called to bring our struggling brothers unto Him, for restoration and reconciliation.
My prayer, in line with the Gospel, is that may God grant us hearts that are willing to pray and serve for the rest of humanity, and be the light to every dark corners of the world that are seem to be left behind by selfishness and greed.
Lasallian Guiding Principle
As stated in LGP, the spirit of faith allows one to search God’s will in order to carry out His saving plan. In connection with today’s Gospel, the spirit of faith of those who believe has moved the hands of God to release such healing power to those who ask Him, through Jesus the Messiah. Moreover, Jesus’ zeal for service and communion in His mission, in His obedience to carry His Father’s plan were very much seen in the Scripture written, providing the right model for every Lasallian, and every fellow Christian to follow; like St. John Baptist de la Salle, who wholeheartedly walked on Jesus’ path, served those who were in need during his time, particularly poor boys, whom he has given an education.
One Life Prayer
Holy Spirit
You love us and offer us the gift of association.
You call us to live with joy
You invite us to be people with creative inner life
Lord, grant us your strength for a life full of meaning
Fill us with your grace so that we will live the values of the gospel
Our inner life will grow.
And that we will be credible witnesses
Together with the entire Lasallian Family
In the midst of our world.
We make this prayer through the intercession of Mary
Queen and Mother of the Christian Schools, and through
The intercession of Saint John Baptist de la Salle, patron of teachers. Amen.
